Recent Works

My research investigates the intersection of digital marketing, online communities, and consumer behavior.

Specifically the first essay in my dissertation qualitatively explores the connections that micro-influencers build with consumers. In my second essay I examine how social media influencers impact consumers’ digital wellness using mixed-methods.

People usually ask me

What kind of research do you do?

I use both qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate research that intersects between digital marketing and consumer behavior. My dissertation focused on social media influencers, brand connections, and consumers’ digital wellness. I am fascinated in how social media and other digital technology is changing consumer journeys. I am also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

What is your teaching style or philosophy?

I like to use active learning techniques to create engagement in my classroom. I make an effort to make sure the course content is related to the issues they will be dealing with in industry. I also prefer to create assignments leveraging Bloom’s taxonomy where students apply, analyze, evaluate, and get practice creating. Finally, I like to use experiential learning through industry certifications and simulations that students can put on their resumes.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about mentoring. I originally wanted to be a collegiate volleyball coach because mentoring and connecting with my athletes was something I loved. I had always thought about getting a doctorate in the back of my mind, but while doing my MBA, I was introduced to academia. I started doing research and fell in love with that and realized I could also mentor while teaching. I am so stoked I get to do this the rest of my life!

What’s the most useless talent you have?

I can keep time better than an actual clock! I know exactly how much time as passed down to the minute.
